LEAD, SOUTH DAKOTA -- On Sunday March 2nd Trinity UMC of Lead/Deadwood hosted a fundraiser for the Ron Olson family. The evening saw nearly 200 people from the church and neighboring area attend a night filled with fun, food, fellowship, entertainment. A tremendous outpouring of support and caring for the Olson family permeated the event.
The evening featured pink decorations that made the Christian Ministry Center look as if it had been sprayed with a large container of Pepto Bismal. Pink is Maija's favorite color.
The meal for the evening was a variety of types of pizza along with a green salad and more desserts than could be consumed at three meals.
Various individuals and groups provided entertainment throughout the evening. Entertainment included singing, comedy readings, and hulu hooping. A 5 year old hula hooper brought the house down.
Attendees were able to browse through 134 different silent auction items. Bids were accepted throughout the night and the winning bidders picked items at the close of the evening.
Rev. Mark Phillips, Lead / Deadwood UMC noted, “It truly was a blessed evening showing the amazing love and grace that God pours out to us and how in small ways we sought to share some of that love with the Olson family. “
The estimated funds raised is $7,100 however, more gifts continuing to arrive.
