United Methodist communicators were honored May 21 with a virtual awards celebration hosted by the United Methodist Association of Communicators.

The Dakotas-Minnesota communication team of Doreen Gosmire, Karla Hovde, Christa Meland, and David Stucke were among the honorees. For the past eight years the two conferences have collaborated to create a communication team that produces excellence telling the story of Dakotas and Minnesota United Methodists.

“We have an excellent communication team. It is no surprise that they are recipients of several awards,” says Bishop Bruce R. Ough, resident bishop for the Dakotas-Minnesota Area.

After the cancellation of its 2020 gathering due to COVID-19 safety concerns, UMAC moved its gala online, where communicators across the United Methodist connection gathered to watch the ceremony on the organization’s Facebook page.

Work was submitted across 10 classes of communications, with a best in class for each, as well as first, second and third place winners selected for each category. The Dakotas-Minnesota communication team received these awards:
