Elisha Project—Matt's experience from Dakotas UMC on Vimeo.
“I wanted to get to do a little bit of everything,” said Matt Bader, Elisha Intern at Rapid City Canyon Lake UMC. “And I got to do a little bit of everything.”
Matt Bader, a student at Dakota Wesleyan University, describes his Elisha Intern experience as fulfilling. The list of experiences includes working with a mentor, Rev. Eric Grinager, selecting scripture, planning worship, small groups, care ministry and more.
One of the things Matt learned is that he liked planning and involvement with Vacation Bible School (VBS). “When I was growing up I did not like VBS,” said Bader. “Being on the other side of things, I enjoyed it.”
Rev. Eric Grinager served as Bader’s mentor and described the enthusiasm and excitement that having an intern created for the church. “Having Matt present allowed us as a church to see things through a different set of eyes,” said Grinager.
Bader saw that there were many ways to be in ministry and that there is a vast opportunity out there. He will attend seminary in the fall of 2017.
