Sixteen volunteers from Faulkton UMC served over 200 meals at The Watertown Banquet on Monday, July 31st. The Watertown Banquet is a non-profit entity founded in May 1993, to provide one nourishing meal each week to residents of the Watertown community.
The mission of The Banquet is to nourish the body and spirit of both the guests and volunteers. Guests who are hungry, lonely, handicapped, or elderly are provided a hot meal with care and respect. File photo courtesy of The Watertown Banquet facebook page.
Every year these volunteers walk away with a new perspective on what it means to serve others and leave with satisfaction knowing they did God’s work. This is the third year volunteers from the United Methodist Church of Faulkton have served at The Banquet.
Each week a different volunteer group provides and prepares the food and serves our guests. Volunteer groups have included businesses, churches, youth groups, schools, and service organizations. If you are part of a group interested in serving or would like more information about The Watertown Banquet, contact Lorna Hofer (Banquet Coordinator) at thewtnbanquet@gmail.com.
