EVANSTON, Illinois– Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is pleased to announce a guaranteed tuition rate for master’s level students, starting in the fall of 2014. This initiative provides students a new layer of financial stability by guaranteeing the same tuition rate for two or three years, pending which masters degree program they seek to complete.
Beginning with the 2014-2015 academic year, tuition rates for new Master of Divinity students will be guaranteed through the Summer Term 2017. Tuition rates for new Master of Arts or Master of Theological Studies students will be guaranteed through Summer Term 2016. Rev. Becky Eberhart, associate vice president for enrollment management, said, “We are excited to roll out this new initiative. We have spent many months deliberating, thinking about ways we as an institution could help alleviate some of the financial pressure on our students. We found that a guaranteed tuition rate would not only help students financially for their two or three years at the seminary, but would also encourage students to complete their degree in a timely fashion.”
As the cost of seminary education continues to rise throughout the country, Garrett-Evangelical continues to find ways to ease the financial stress on students. This academic year, Garrett- Evangelical awarded over 2.5 million dollars in financial aid, offered numerous federal work- study positions, and assisted with paid internship opportunities through field education. The new guaranteed tuition rate is yet another step in insuring students graduate with as little debt as possible as they enter the world of ministry.
