Imagine No Malaria goal is in site

Imagine No Malaria, an initiative from The United Methodist Church, is committed to ending death and suffering from malaria through prevention, communication, trained health workers, improved facilities and grassroots education. To date, Imagine No Malaria has raised 90 percent of its goal with more than $68 million in gifts and pledges. United Methodists across the world are working hard to reach and celebrate the initiative’s $75 million goal in 2016.

We're almost there. Help us reach $75 million by making a donation and make a difference in the life of a child, adult or family. With your help, we can make reach our goal!

The Dakotas Conference set out to raise funds to help fight malaria. A Miracle Offering was collected at the 2015 Annual Conference held in Fargo, North Dakota resulting in $85,000 for Imagine No Malaria. If your church did not have a chance to donate through the Miracle Offering there are still ways for you to give.

Church leaders may choose to use all of the resources or customize the materials to compliment current programming. In addition to utilizing the resources, many churches collect special offerings during the Advent season for Imagine No Malaria. The recent announcement that Imagine No Malaria has surpassed 90 percent of its $75 million goal already has inspired churches across the country to dedicate Christmas Eve offerings to the initiative.

At St. John’s United Methodist Church in Anchorage, Alaska, where Rev. Andy Bartels of the Dakotas Conference serves, the members raised more than $23,000 during its Christmas Eve offering, which was dedicated 100 percent to the malaria fighting initiative.

Safe, secure and easy giving opportunities are available on the site so that anyone can participate and join the effort to eliminate this disease. Visitors can make one-time gifts and pledges of any amount, but many individuals participate with a recurring pledge of $28 per month over three years, to potentially save the lives of up to 100 children at risk for contracting the deadly disease.

Additionally, visitors can get a glimpse at the lives Imagine No Malaria is changing through video diaries, touching photos and new stories.

Take the #Give10 Challenge by donating $10 today, and the People of The United Methodist Church will work together to make the last 10% of the goal.
