A follow up to last week's story -- "Pastor gets exercise at his desk"
HARRISBURG, SOUTH DAKOTA --- A lot of people spend a lot of time sitting at their desk each day. Rev. Kyle Reinhiller, Harrisburg United Methodist Church spends time at his tread desk each day. It keeps him on the move and healthy.
Last week we you told a little about Reinhiller's efforts. " I don't like to go to the gym," said Reinhiller. The tread desk by Work Fit provides a no excuse work out option.
The exercise desk costs around $700 and allows the user to type, write, talk on the phone and read.
Rev. Reinhiller got the idea to try the tread desk after reading the book, "Drop Dead Healthy" by A.J. Jacobson.
"I wanted to give it a try. It was time to remodel the study this year and I would have easily spent the same amount of money on a desk and a chair," noted Reinhiller.
The tread desk is the right height for him. Rev. Reinhiller is about 6' tall. The desk is not adjustable so people that are under 5'8" tall may have some difficulty.
When people come into the office Rev. Reinhiller typically gets a couple of different responses. "Some people just laugh, while others say, 'I might conder that'."
Before people see Reinhiller in action they imagine what the tread desk might look like. " I think some people think I am sitting at my desk peddling like Fred Flintstone," he said.
Reinhiller is able to get in 10,000 to 20,000 steps per day. "I am always moving and that makes such a difference."
