BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA — “More than expected,” the words that describe the Vacation Bible School (VBS) experience at Legacy United Methodist Church in Bismarck, North Dakota. It was a VBS of record attendance. Over 240 children and 100 volunteers spent four days learning about the love of Jesus. Photos courtesy of Legacy UMC, Bismarck, ND.
The theme and curriculum Legacy UMC VBS was Maker Fun Factory. A key to the success of the week was a change in format. It was changed from a five-day format to a four-day format. Kids and volunteers gathered from 6-8 p.m. each night. “Volunteers and parents really liked the new format,” said JoAnn Early, Legacy UMC communications director.
VBS at Legacy UMC reached out to serve many. Legacy is home to a growing Hispanic ministry, Esperanza Viva. The Hispanic partnership encouraged families to send children to VBS and 20 children form Esperanza Viva attended. Children and volunteers with disabilities were included and engaged throughout the whole week.
Comments from kids and parents who attended were: AWESOME! I want to come again next year. My child has been so excited to come here everyday.
Early reported, “It was Christ centered, high energy, exciting, fun filled week!”
