On October 12th, women of the Canyon Lake United Methodist Women (UMW) spent a morning of joy and fellowship making green, pink, purple and blue Love Ribbons. These ribbons can be purchased for a dollar and then pinned on someone you want to recognize or honor.
On October 17th and 18th, Canyon Lake United Methodist Church celebrated Love Ribbon Weekend when folks attending worship were given the opportunity to buy the colorful ribbons so they could show their love and appreciation to our pastors and friends.
Love Ribbon Weekend was a huge success. "We ‘Plastered the Pastors’ with love ribbons and few people escaped without giving or receiving a hugs with one of the tokens of appreciation," said Betty Downs, Canyon Lake UMW.
As a result of Love Ribbon Weekend, Canyon Lake UMW was able to send $447.00 to the Dakotas Conference UMW project. Those monies are used for grants that will benefit children.
Erin Woods, Children's and Youth Ministries, knows what can result from the sale of Love Ribbons. This energetic mother and teacher applied to the conference and received a grant through the sale of Love Ribbons for the ‘Little Lambs’ ministry, that benefits the children at Canyon Lake UMC's Westside Preschool
Love Ribbons are a win-win situation for the Dakotas Conference in 2015.
