Prayer from Spirit Lake Dakota Reservation

“We need to have acknowledgement and confession. There can be no healing without the forgiveness of sin, and there can be no forgiveness without confession. And there can be no confession without first acknowledgement.”
Please listen to the words of Pastor Larry Thiele, of the Dakotah Oyate Lutheran Church and St. Thomas Episcopal Church, on the Spirit Lake Dakota Reservation of North Dakota, speaking on how the church can move forward toward reconciliation and healing. Indigenous Peoples Day, Oct. 11, 2021.
The first video is his prayer for peace and confession, spoken in Dakota language.

In this second video, Larry explains his reason for offering this prayer.
He encourages us all to pray in our own way for reconciliation and healing.
