Rev. Mark Johnsen, Prairie View UMC, invites all United Methodists in the Dakotas to join in Praying our Way Forward this week August 20-26, 2017.
4 Who are you to condemn someone else’s servants? Their own master will judge whether they stand or fall. And with the Lord’s help, they will stand and receive his approval. 22b Blessed are those who don’t feel guilty for doing something they have decided is right. Romans 14
Gracious God,
Throughout chapter fourteen of Romans we read of sin defined as something we do which we know is wrong. There the apostle Paul implores us not to condemn our brothers or sisters for the actions they undertake in good conscience. Help us to recognize and repent of the sin in our own lives, rather than seeking to hold others to our standards of right and wrong. Lord, expose and reveal to us our pride and hypocrisy when we deride others for their faithful contextualization of scripture. Continue with us on this journey which is before us, and hold us together in the arms of your grace. Amen.
