Psalm 146:5-7 "Life in Spite of Death"

How many times do we say to ourselves, “I’ll be happy once I graduate," or “I’ll be happy once summer comes,” or “I’ll be happy once I finish this big project.” We have a thousand reasons for why we are unhappy, and many of them are simply that we're waiting for some source of pain to leave us. God has a different idea about happiness.

Happiness in God’s world is not the absence of pain. It is the presence of God, who cares about our pain and who acts on our behalf. We think of happiness as a high emotion that can only be reached once our lives are void of painful things, but God is the source of happiness.

Happy are those who hope in the Lord!
