Most rural states including North Dakota and South Dakota are experiencing an exodus of residents aged 20 to 34. This is especially true for farming-dependent areas. Out-migration has created an age imbalance that is evident in the population pyramids, showing an echo among the active members of churches. Wagner United Methodist Church is attempting to change that dynamic through a young adult group.
The newly formed young adult group from Wagner United Methodist Church hosted a mid-summer BBQ Sunday, July 19. Members from the church and community attended and were fed hamburgers, brats, and hotdogs.
"This was a first for the church and they are excited about planning to provide this outreach annually," said Pastor Laurie Kidd. "God is good!"
