LUKE-ACTS 2025 - Reflections & Resources

Luke-Acts Reading
Chapter 7 contains an interesting interjection of John the Baptist sending a message to inquire if Jesus is "the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” He echos a very human struggle of faith - what happens when our expectations of how things should be don't seem to come to fruition, or at least not in a way that aligns with our plan or timeline. But Jesus responds with examples of God's Kingdom of love and justice becoming a reality: "The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor." (v. 22) John, like others, may have expected that the Kingdom would come through power and might - that God's people would "win" the day. Jesus' response invites us to bear witness to signs of healing and wholeness that show the truth and "power" of God's Kin-dom made real on earth as it is in Heaven.
