Lake Poinsett Camp hosted the dedication of the newest camping cabin, “The Grinager”Sunday, May 5. It is a large bunk cabin, with a great room, and four 9-bed bunk rooms. Each room has its own bathroom and …it’s all centrally air conditioned!
The gathering was not merely a celebration of the building. The event was to honor the legacy of faith and christian camping that is lovingly perpetuated by devoted hearts who lead so many to a life in Christ. Specifically, the legacy of the Dakotas United Methodist Conference Camping Ministry.
Most of the Grinager family members were present. Family members prsented their personal history. Stoires about memories, events and planning that have happened throughout the Grinager history were heard.
There was joy, giggles and comfort as stories were shared by Grinager matriarch, Dorothy Lindbloom-Grinager. Other families members who spoke were Eric, Howard and Rebecca Grinager. Scott Jones also shared his fondness for the Grinagers and how his own life has been formed and uplifted because of the Grinager family and the Lake Poinsett legacy.
The Grinager Cabin was a huge project and generously supported by Scottand Julia Jones and the Grinager Family. Scott and Julia were instrumental in contributing towards the cost of the building as well as inspiring others to give. Scott requested the cabin be given the “Grinager” name. Additionally, one of the four, 8-bunk rooms will be dedicated to Scott and Julia Jones, another to John and Nancy Grinager.
