How do you raise funds for mission projects? Here is one idea. The youth of North Highland UMC in Aberdeen, South Dakota named and decorated piggy bank pigs and then offered them for adoption to worshipers.
Buyers signed an adoption certificate. By signing the accompanying “adoption certificate”, parishioners agreed to feed their pig with coins to support youth mission projects.
Lots of commotion and excitement ensued as pigs with varying personalities were chosen for adoption.
The first mission project the youth selected to fund was the purchase of Heifer International pigs. The North Highland youth will choose various other missions throughout the coming year with the funds from the pig adoption.
